Life Coaching vs. Therapy

Talk Therapy.

Psychotherapy, also known as talk therapy, aims to help a person understand their feelings and equip them to face new challenges, both in the present and the future.

Psychotherapy can help people in a range of situations. For example, it may benefit someone who:

  • has overwhelming feelings of sadness or helplessness

  • feels anxious most of the time

  • has difficulty facing everyday challenges or focusing on work or studies

  • is using drugs or alcohol in a way that is not healthful

  • is at risk of harming themselves or others

  • feels that their situation will never improve, despite receiving help from friends and family

  • has experienced an abusive situation

  • has a mental health condition, such as schizophrenia, that affects their daily life.

Coaching.

Coaching is a professional relationship that helps people produce extraordinary results in their lives, careers, businesses or organizations, helping them to bridge the gap between where they are now and where they want to be. Coaches partner with their clients to design the life they want, bring out their clients’ own brilliance and resources so that they can achieve excellence and create purposeful, extraordinary lives. By creating clarity, coaching moves the client into action, accelerating their progress by providing greater focus and awareness of all the possibilities which exist to create fulfilling lives.
